Frontier Pets has moved from the regional town of Evans Head, NSW, to a substantially larger premise in Brisbane, Queensland.
The move comes after months of speculation about the imminent departure of a key employer in the region, which Diana Scott, Founder of Frontier Pets, described as a bittersweet moment.
“We started producing our pet food and treats in Evans Head back in 2017. I thought at the time that we would be in Evans for the duration. But the business has grown so rapidly, that the current facility just can’t cope with the new production quantities. It’ll be sad to leave, but we just can’t manage in the current location.
“When we first started the business in 2017, we were producing around 1,000 kilos per month. We’re now up to nearly 3,000 kilos per day. Pet owners today are looking for the best possible food for the health of their pets, and a way to make a meaningful contribution to the health of our planet.”
Simon Pothecary, CEO of Frontier Pets, said by moving production to Brisbane, they’ll be increasing its capacity ten-fold.
“Frontier Pets is making significant strides both domestically and internationally. With a robust customer base in Australia and expanding exports to key markets like Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore, our brand’s growth trajectory is strong.
“We’re proud of our growth. Yes, we’re a manufacturer and we produce extraordinary pet food, but we’re more than that – we are a pet food company with purpose. We use only 100 per cent ethically sourced ingredients supplied by Aussie farmers practicing sustainable agriculture.”
To date, Frontier Pets have procured over eight million dollars of sustainably grown produce and served over seven million meals to Aussie pets and recently won the ‘Best in Pet Services’ award at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards in April.
“Being recognised for excellence is not new for the team at Frontier Pets. Our impressive track record of securing prestigious awards, including the coveted Telstra Best of Business award in 2022, highlights our team’s dedication to manufacturing, innovation, and delivering the highest-quality pet food for our customers,” said Pothecary.
