Petcare Byron Bay has officially rebranded following Jo and Simon Arnesen’s purchase, giving the long-running local pet store a new look and feel.

Jo explained that in January 2022, her and her husband bought into 100% pets with 40 per cent ownership, and in April 2025, they purchased the business outright.

“It’s always been a dream of mine to own and run a pet store, and taking full ownership has allowed us to give the store a glow-up — creating a fresh new look and feel for both our customers and our team.”

The transition included a full rebrand, with new signage, uniforms, marketing and a repaint of the store. Under her ownership, Petcare Byron Bay has expanded its product range, strengthened ties with other local businesses and made sustainability a priority.

“We’re passionate about stocking products that are environmentally friendly and good for pets and their people.”

Jo began her career in the industry as a Territory Manager with Hill’s Pet Nutrition, where she worked for 10 years across both the pet and veterinary sectors, where she also met her husband. A lifelong animal lover, Jo said the decision to work with pets came naturally.

“It’s such a rewarding space where I can genuinely be excited and passionate about what I do every single day,” she said.

Jo believes it’s the store’s community connection that sets it apart, explaining that they’re a proud local, family-owned business in a unique, popular small tourist town.

“Simon is a local vet and we live and work right here in the community, and our customers value that connection. We’re also progressive — always looking for ways to improve what we do and how we do it, so our customers and their pets get the very best.”
