IndePet’s annual Women in Pet event was a celebration of the achievements and contributions of women in the pet industry.
The event, which was held at The Branksome Hotel and Residences in Mascot, NSW, is now in its second year and featured an inspiring panel of women including Laura V (Animal Behaviourist, Author, Broadcaster, and Presenter), Melanie Newman (Founder of Melanie Newman Salon Essentials and Co-founder of Mastergroom Australia), Dr. Emma Christie (Chief Veterinary Officer at Our Vet), and Dr. Bronwen Slack (Chief Health Officer at Royal Canin).
Krysten Arnold, Marketing Manager at IndePet, said they are so happy with how the event went and hope everyone who came felt the same.
“The energy in the room was incredible, and there was a real sense of community. It was great to hear the different stories and experiences from the amazing women on the panel. Shout out to our very own Tia who did a fantastic job as moderator. Looking forward to bringing in back in 2026!”
The panel session ran for over an hour and was an insightful mix of personalities and views, which provided for some interesting conversations.
“The speakers were engaging, and the sessions highlighted the incredible challenges, contributions and leadership of women in this field,” said Melissa Penn, Managing Director of Sydney Dogs and Cats Home, and President of Companion Animal Network Australia (CANA).
Caroline Zambrano, Pet Journalist and Founder of Pet Journo, said that it was an honour to be among so many amazing and inspiring women shaping the industry.
“Meeting and hearing from the panellists reinforced just how much passion, expertise, and leadership women bring to the pet space. Add to that some drinks, laughter, and meaningful conversations, and it was a pawsome day! Thank you to IndePet for making it happen.”
Following the speakers, attendees mingled over drinks with the opportunity to catch up with old and new friends.
“It was a great opportunity to speak with our peers about the current challenges faced in the pet sector but also to gain insights from four very accomplished panellists – all with different experiences but similar key messages,” said Margaret Hennessy, CEO of DOGUE Group.
