Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) has partnered with Moon Dog Brewery to launch a beer collaboration featuring eight rescue pets on the cans.
Through the collaboration, Moon Dog is hoping to raise $20,000 for SCAR through beer sales, donations, and the new beer launch event taking place at the end of May.
A nationwide competition will give pet owners the opportunity to upload pictures of their beloved rescue animal, to be bestowed with the honour of having their furry pal’s face immortalised on one of the beer cans.
The competition closes on Wednesday 6th April with the beer to be released at the end of May.
SCAR was founded in 2008 after vet nurse and shelter volunteer, Marisa Debattista, witnessed firsthand how many beautiful animals needed help, versus how few resources were available. SCAR now has a shelter, animal hospital and vet (open to the public) and a dog grooming facility in Craigieburn.
“We offer a number of free services not readily available within the state – such as our Safe House for Pets program, where we find temporary homes for pets whose owners are domestic violence survivors, as well as our Outreach Program offering free medical care and pet food to those struggling financially. To be able to offer these programs free to those needing them, we rely on sponsors, fundraising and donations,” says Debattista.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Moon Dog on this exciting collaboration. With the word ‘Dog’ in their name and their dog loving ethos it felt like a natural fit.”
Over the course of the next 12 months, SCAR aims to achieve the following:
- De-sex 300 animals and assist over 300 underprivileged pet owners with free veterinary treatments via the Pet Outreach Program;
- Hand out over 2,000kg of pet food to struggling pet owners via the Free Food Bank;
- Offer free emergency respite care to 50 animals belonging to domestic and family violence survivors via the Safe House for Pets Program.
