Nominations are now open for the 2025 GapOnly Veterinary Awards (GOVAs), with entries closing on 27 January 2025.

The awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of veterinary professionals and practices across Australia.

Dr Maria Neale, veterinarian and General Manager of GapOnly, said the awards recognise those making a real difference in the industry.

“This bespoke awards program celebrates the individuals and practices that have gone above and beyond to deliver outstanding service in pet healthcare.”

The GOVAs feature four categories, including the Woman Veterinarian of the Year award. Dr Neale highlighted the importance of recognising female veterinarians, who make up 74 per cent of the workforce.

“With the ceremony being held the night before International Women’s Day, we wanted to acknowledge the dedication and contribution of female veterinarians with a standalone category,” she said.

The judging panel includes experts from the veterinary and pet insurance sectors, with criteria focusing on patient outcomes, client feedback, teamwork, and support for flexible work practices.

Finalists will be announced in early February 2025, with winners revealed at an awards ceremony on 7 March 2025 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney. The event will be hosted by ABC’s 7:30 comedian Mark Humphries and feature keynote speaker Sam Bloom, author of the international bestseller “Penguin Bloom.”
