Pet Fair Asia 2023, the leading pet industry platform in Asia and one of the world’s largest pet events, will take place from 16 to 20 August at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).

An all-time record of 230,000 sqm exhibiting space will be occupied by over 2,200 exhibitors, who will showcase products for pets at 360 degrees; from pet foods, supplies and accessories to healthcare, grooming, and more. The latest innovations in the industry will make their debut, emphasizing to the audience the persistent commitment of the manufacturers towards creating smart, AI driven and environmentally sustainable products. Over 250,000 visitors from China and abroad, among which 70,000+ professional trade visitors, are expected to visit the five-day event. The organizer is, in particular, looking forward to finally welcoming to China the international buyers from overseas, who continue to register in big numbers. This year’s edition holds a significant meaning for Pet Fair Asia as it marks the 25th anniversary of the show. Since its birth in 1997, Pet Fair Asia has witnessed and given its contribution to the rising of the Chinese pet industry. According to the “Blue Book of the Pet Industry”, an annual report published by apa (Asia Pet Alliance), China’s pet industry worth is estimated to reach 445.6 billion (US$66.1 billion) by the end of 2023. The pet population in China has grown by 70% in the recent decade, reaching 116 million pets in 2022, 69% of which are mainly owned by young generations from 19 to 30 years old. With the pet owner population making up only 20% of the total China’s population, the growth of the industry is only set to continue its boom.

As China has fully returned to the international trade scene, the organizer has, this year, put an emphasis on the hosted buyer programs, to ensure the platform is helping at its best the regaining of trade relations in the pet industry between China, Asia and the world. A particular focus has been put on the international buyers, to assist their smooth return to China through a unique hospitality package and an efficient visit at the event. Selected international buyers will engage in different onsite meetings and match-making activities, as well as pet shops visits in Shanghai, tailored to put them in contact with the right suppliers and partners in the most effective way.

Pet Fair Asia has always put an important focus on being, not only a trading platform, but also a reference point for education, information and know-how exchange in the industry. The event will open its doors to the general public from August 19 to 20, during which, the local pet owners will have the chance to experience the newest trends in the exquisite pet lifestyle. The huge number of final consumers, who have visited the show throughout the years, have been an integral part of its success and growth. A series of onsite activities, such as Pet Supermarket, Paw-Up STORE pop-up shops, Wagging Tail Concert, U+Market Fair, Summer Night Dog Walking Party and more, are tailored to engage the audience in the largest pet friendly gathering of China.

As Pet Fair Asia prepares to kick off in Shanghai, SUPERZOO will also do so in Las Vegas from August 16 to 18. Both events, representing two major platforms of the world’s pet industry, will bring the pet business communities together from the East to the West. Next year, Pet Fair Asia, in its 26th edition, will return to Shanghai again while SUPERZOO in the United States also takes place from August 14 to 16, 2024.
