The Petbarn Foundation and Savourlife have saved and rehomed 511 puppies and 681 cats from pounds during February.

The organisations’ annual Rescue Month campaign, supported by a $400,000 donation, assisted 40 rescue partners across Australia. The campaign, which began in 2022, has facilitated over 1,660 puppy adoptions through in-store events at Petbarn locations.

Janelle Miller, Manager of the Petbarn Foundation, described the outcome as a significant achievement.

“We are absolutely thrilled with this result. Not only have we achieved our adoption goals, but it’s helped relieve some of the immense pressure faced by rescues around Australia. We’re so grateful to everyone who supported our Rescue Month initiative, and we hope this encourages other Australians to consider adoption first.”

This year’s efforts included a ‘Rescue Restaurant’ event in Sydney, offering potential adopters a unique ‘pup-dating’ experience. According to organisers, 80 per cent of the dogs featured at the event found new homes.

The organisations extended their thanks to those who adopted, donated, and raised awareness, acknowledging the collective effort in finding permanent homes for rescued animals.
