The Petbarn Foundation’s annual Tree of Hope Appeal has raised $2.1 million, with donations supporting over 90 pet related charities nationwide.

The proceeds will assist organisations tackling issues such as mental health, animal rescue, homelessness, and domestic violence, with every dollar going directly to the foundation’s charity partners.

Janelle Miller, Petbarn Foundation Manager, said this appeal changes lives daily, and it’s thanks to the incredible generosity of our Petbarn community.

“Together, we’re creating meaningful change and making 2025 brighter for so many people and pets in need.”

The appeal comes amid rising pressure on rescue organisations, with 81 per cent reporting near or full capacity, an 85 per cent increase in pet surrenders, and 77 per cent noting a decline in financial support, according to research from the Petbarn Foundation and Animal Rescue Cooperative (ARC).

Derek Knox, National Lead of ARC, highlighted the direct impact of the appeal.

“The Petbarn Foundation’s Tree of Hope Appeal has a massive and lasting impact on the animals in rescue around Australia, through this program we can get food, medicine and support everywhere, with thousands of support requests a year being actioned. Put simply, animals’ lives are saved directly by this program. Food goes into bowls, pets are saved from euthanasia, rescuers are under less stress. Families are kept together.”

Funds raised through Greencross Vets and the Animal Referral Emergency Network (AREN) are specifically directed to Vets Beyond Borders, an international organisation providing free veterinary services and education globally.

Now in its 11th year, the Tree of Hope Appeal has raised over $7 million since 2014 for charities like ARC, Vets Beyond Borders, RSPCA, and Empower Assistance Dogs.

“The support from our community makes an extraordinary impact—we couldn’t do this without you,” said Miller.
