The Petspiration Foundation has set a target of raising $200,000 throughout August for Guide Dogs Australia.
The donation by Petspiration Foundation, formally PETstock Asisst, will support Guide Dogs Australia’s range of services that help people living with low vision or blindness gain the freedom and independence to move safely and confidently around their communities.
Sherralea Cassidy, Charity and Events Lead at Petspiration Foundation, said they are calling on all animal lovers to donate and help reach their target.
“With the help of generous supply partners, we want to continue building on our existing community of people that celebrate and support the work of Guide Dogs Australia in August and beyond.
“Through this initiative, we hope to raise awareness of the incredible work carried out by Guide Dogs and educate Australians on the opportunities that are available to support them.”
Nikki Drake, a client of Guide Dogs Australia, said they have experienced first hand how such a donation can transform the lives of people living with low vision or blindness.
“Working with Guide Dogs Australia has given me the confidence and independence that I need to move safely around my community, and with generous donations from partners such as Petspiration Foundation, I’m able to continue being supported by Guide Dogs.”
Ryan Jones, Mobility Instructor at Guide Dogs Australia, said the donation would play an essential role in helping the organisation grow and maintain its wide range of services.
“Our wide range of services extend beyond much-loved Guide Dogs, to Orientation and Mobility Training, Occupational Therapy, Therapy Dogs, Connection and Peer Support Services, Advocacy and many more.
“We’re so thankful to have the support of the Petspiration Foundation – and the many people across the nation that choose to donate – so that we can continue to offer our services and positively impact the lives of people with blindness or low vision.”
