The Petstock Foundation has announced a $250,000 partnership with Make-A-Wish Australia to help grant pet-related wishes for children facing critical illnesses.

Jessica Curtis, Head of the Petstock Foundation, said the organisation was honoured to support Make-A-Wish in granting these wishes. The donation marks the Foundation’s largest partnership to date.

“We know the transformative power of pets in people’s lives, and this partnership underscores our belief in the extraordinary bond between pets and their owners. We are proud to bring joy and comfort to families during difficult times,” she said.

Sally Bateman, CEO of Make-A-Wish Australia, welcomed Petstock as a Major Partner, emphasising the significant impact of pet-related wishes on sick children and their families.

“We have seen firsthand the incredible impact pets have on wish kids, bringing much-needed joy back to childhood and creating a sense of fun, connection and companionship,” Bateman said. “The generosity of the Petstock Foundation will have an immediate impact, allowing us to grant more wishes sooner.”

The impact of pet wishes is evident in the story of Isla, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in 2021 at the age of three. Her wish for a curly-haired puppy was granted in 2023 when she was seven. Her mother, Pamela, said the wish had a lasting positive effect on the family.

“Isla’s wish gave us something to look forward to. A beautiful light at the end of the tunnel,” Pamela said. “After so much time apart, it helped us come together as a family and enjoy a positive experience together. And our puppy helps that happen over and over again every day.”

In addition to the financial commitment, Petstock Foundation will provide essential pet care products through local Petstock stores to support families welcoming a new pet.

“The Petstock Foundation exists to enable a better future for all pets, which includes ensuring that every pet and their family has the support they need to thrive,” Curtis said. “This partnership is an extension of our mission, as we work together with Make-A-Wish to bring joy and hope to these deserving families.”
