Charlie the Cavoodle maintains its title as Australia’s most popular dog according to research by HCF Pet Insurance.

The data showed that the three most popular breeds are Cavoodle (cross breed between Cavalier King Charles and Poodle), Maltese Cross (cross breed between Maltese and Terrier), and Labrador, with the most popular names being Charlie, Coco, and Bella.

Lorraine Thomas, HCF Chief Officer Product and Diversified Business, said the survey results were a nod how integrated dogs were into Australian family lives, with 57 per cent of dog owners stating ‘overall their dog makes them happier than any other family member’.

“Pets bring great comfort to their owners and can also provide so many health benefits, from being a good reason to get out of the house and go for a walk, to being a calming companion that lends an ear and almost never answers back.”
