The veterinary community is set to come together for the inaugural Sophie’s Legacy Gala Cocktail Party, with organisers promising an evening of celebration, connection, and fundraising for an important cause.
The event will take place on Saturday, 18 October in the Panorama Room at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Guests can expect a vibrant line-up, including a singing Champagne lady, roving saxophonist, DJ, silent auction, and a live auction led by Bronte Toop.
“We’re incredibly excited about the inaugural Gala Cocktail Party for Sophie’s Legacy,” said Kate Holland, Committee Member of Sophie’s Legacy. “Most importantly, it’s bringing together our favourite communities – those in the vet industry and those who support them.”
Holland said the night is aimed primarily at veterinary professionals, who work tirelessly under immense pressure.
“They work so hard and deserve to press pause, let their hair down and revel in a night that celebrates their important – and often challenging – role in the community,” she said.
Sophie’s Legacy was established in memory of Dr Sophie Putland, a much-loved veterinarian who died by suicide in September 2021.
“The pressure of the veterinary profession, including client abuse, became overwhelming for her,” Holland said. “On average, a vet dies by suicide approximately every 12 weeks. Family and friends established Sophie’s Legacy to honour her memory and advocate for change within the industry. We are determined to see all veterinary staff thrive. Every dollar raised on the night will help Sophie’s Legacy continue its vital mission – to save the people who save our animals.”
Discounted Early Bird tickets for the veterinary community are available until 18 August, after which public pricing will apply. Tickets can be secured via the QR code provided.
