Tess Nolan, Vet Nurse and Practice Manager of The Point Vet, is using her large online following to help the veterinary industry in its staff crisis.
Nolan, who has 250,000 Tiktok followers and 14,000 Instagram followers, has created Vet Nurse School to help people into the veterinary industry by offering easy to digest courses and online resources.
“I realised there is this huge gap where people would love to work with animals but are not sure where and how to get started. That is why I have created Vet Nurse School to fill this gap and streamline people into the veterinary industry.”
The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) revealed statistics that show there are only 13,500 vets for Australia’s 30.4 million pets, and Nolan hopes her course will encourage those who love animals to take up a career in the industry.
“When you apply fora job everyone can most likely use Microsoft word, but not everyone can safely restrain a 65kg Rottweiler. My courses are created to assist you in getting this hands-on experience.
“With the hopes to one day benefit us all in the industry, ease the burden, reduce the amount of burn out, compassion fatigue, and staggering statistics of people who leave the industry.”
Nolan said over 1500 people signed up to the course before it had even been released, with the interest purely off the back of her social media followers.
